陳鈺杰 ( Jay Chern )，台灣製造，美國長大。
17 歲即開設電腦公司為人架設網站編寫程式、組電玩團隊和朋友全美四處征戰賺零用錢，同時亦是管絃樂團小提琴首席、跆拳道綠帶全美冠軍。
2004 年以一部３分鐘短片開始電影生涯，嘗試寫劇本、製片和導演短片以及動畫製作。
2006 年自美國德州大學阿靈頓分校電影系畢業，並以畢製《Spilled》榮獲該校年度電影節最佳電影獎。
2007 年為了學中文和尋根自美返台，進入國立台北藝術大學電影創作研究所就讀。參與過多部獲獎短片的拍攝,擔任攝影師、剪接師、燈光設計、副導演等工作。
2011-2012 短片《小偷》獲得金馬獎最佳短片、金穗獎最佳導演、日本短片影展亞太區的最佳短片、金鐘獎最佳導演獎。
2013 擔任宮崎駿紀錄片《夢與狂想的王國》的攝影師。
2014 創辦電 影與影像公司「天大影業」，製作第一部電視電影長片《曉之春》入圍 2014 金鐘獎六項大獎包括最佳電視電影和導演 。
2016 和日本撮影所合拍首部電影長片《盛情款待》獲選第 42 屆香港國際電影節開幕片，2018 年上映。

ENGLISH VERSION, BIOGRAPHY
Ｊay Chern, grew up in Texas, but was made in Taiwan. Showed talent at a young
age when it came to computers, started his first web company at the age of 17.
Was an all- state violinist, a professional gamer and green belt double gold
medalist in U.S. Taekwondo's Jr. National Championships.
In 2004, began his film career writing, producing live action and animated short
films. 2006, he graduated summa cum laude from the film program at the
University of Texas at Arlington; with his thesis short film winning best film at the
University’s annual film festival. 2007, he returned to Taipei to get reacquainted
with a culture he had long forgotten and improve his Chinese. During his time in
Taiwan, he studied film directing at the Taipei National University of the Arts,
Graduate School of Filmmaking. In 2011, he completed his thesis short film
“Thief” that won best short film at the Taipei Golden Horse, best director at the
Golden Bell, best Asian short at Tokyo’s Short Shorts Film Festival and was
invited to many international film festivals. 2013, he shot for director Mami
Sunada on the defining documentary of master animator Miyazaki’s The Kingdom
of Dreams and Madness. In 2014 wrote, directed and shot his first television
feature Dawn / Spring which was nominated for 6 Golden Bell awards including
best picture and best director. 2016 began co-production on his first theatrical
feature Omotenashi with the renowned Shochiku Studios of Japan—selected as
opening film for the 42nd Hong Kong International Film Festival, to be released in
theaters 2018.
